Returns and exchange details
RETURNS
Items can be returned within 15 days for a 25% restocking fee, plus the cost of shipping. You are responsible for the cost of shipping the item back. A refund will only be issued if the item is in like new condition, with no wear and tear or damage. Refunds, if deemed appropriate, may only be issued back onto the card you used to pay for the item originally.

Please contact us for our address information when shipping returns.

CANCELLATIONS
Orders may be cancelled for a full refund up to 7 days before your estimated ship date. Orders cancelled 7 days or less before your estimated ship date will be subject to a 25% cancellation charge.

CUSTOM ITEMS
Custom items may not be returned for any reason other than damaged accrued during shipping.

Shipping policies

LEAD TIMES
Except for vintage items, all of our items are handmade in our shop, and due to demand, most are built to order. We will do our best to get your item sent to you in a timely manner, but keep in mind that handcrafting these items takes time, so please be patient! Small items (such as coatracks and organizers) typically ship in 2-3 weeks, and larger items (such as tables and podiums) typically ship in 4-6 weeks. You will receive a shipping notification from Etsy when your order is on its way.

It can take a day or two before tracking information is updated on carrier websites, so if your tracking information is not immediately available, don’t worry. Check back after 24 hours, and your tracking information will be there.

STANDARD SHIPPING
Our items typically ship via UPS Ground. Orders over $200 will require a signature at time of delivery. You can contact UPS with any tracking or delivery questions.

FREIGHT
Items too large or heavy to ship via UPS Ground will be delivered to you via UPS freight on a full size tractor trailer. This type of shipping is different than standard UPS. You will be responsible for taking the product off the back of the truck and into your home or business. After your item has shipped via freight, we will send you tracking information so you can prepare for your delivery. Your item will arrive shrink wrapped and palleted - you will need a screw gun and a T-15 star bit ready to uncrate your item.

FREIGHT OPTIONS
When you place your order, you will notice different options for shipping. Standard shipping is for commercial addresses only. Please select residential delivery if we are shipping to a house or apartment. Liftgate services are also available – Liftgate services entail using a lift on the back of the truck to place your shipment on the ground. We recommend using liftgate if you do not have a loading dock or forklift available. Without liftgate service, you are responsible for getting your shipment off the back of the truck. Most pallets weigh 150 – 350 lbs. If you require any additional services, you are responsible for them. You can contact UPS Freight directly at 1-800-333-7400 with freight questions or to set up additional services.

DAMAGE
ALL SHIPMENTS SHOULD BE INSPECTED BEFORE YOU SIGN FOR THEM! This is very important. By signing the delivery receipt, you are stating that your order arrived in good condition. If you do notice any possible issues, have the truck driver wait while you break the shrink-wrap and inspect the item(s). If you notice any damage:
-Clearly note any damage, missing items or other delivery issues on the delivery receipt before signing.
-Make sure to keep a copy of the delivery receipt.
-Contact us within 1 business day.
-Keep the damaged packaging materials for inspection.
-Take photos of the damaged items and packaging.
If there is excessive damage, visible without opening the packaging, you may refuse the delivery. If you do refuse the delivery, contact us right away.

If part or all of your shipment is damaged and you did not note this on your delivery receipt, we CANNOT guarantee any compensation for damages.

LOST OR STOLEN ITEMS
Urban Wood & Steel will not be held responsible in the rare event that an item is lost or stolen. We require signatures for most deliveries to ensure that your item makes it to you - it is your responsibility to track your package and anticipate its arrival.

STORAGE FEES
If we have to hold your item at our shop for any reason more than one week past your scheduled ship date, your item will accrue storage fees. We are a small shop – not a large warehouse, and holding orders takes up room that we need for new orders. Storage fees are $10.00 every business day ($50.00 per week), and will continue to accrue until the date that we ship the order out.

No two items are exactly the same, and your item may vary slightly from the images shown. Dimensions may vary +/- 3/8 inch.

CUSTOM WORK
We are more than happy to do custom work for our customers – we have worked with homeowners, interior decorators, bars, restaurants, retail shops and more. This includes custom sizes, wood finishes / colors, materials, new designs, and more. Please contact us for more information if you are interested in a custom piece.

MOUNTING / INSTALLATION
We include screws and instructions for mounting with all of our wall-mounted items. Please check the packaging carefully for the screws. We package them in a small manila envelope, which will be attached to your item. If you lose them, you can use any 2 ½” screw. We use 2 ½” cabinet screws.
We recommend mounting directly to a wall stud - locate the stud, mark the stud locations on your item, drill pilot holes with a 1/8" bit right through the wood backer on your item, then send the screws into the pilot holes and secure the item to the stud. We use distressed wood and color matched screws, so the screws will blend right in. No stud? No problem. Follow the instructions in this video:
