This purple blue raku urn or lidded vase has gorgeous coloration! As seen here, it displays beautifully as an object of art and, without the lid, can also be used to hold a lovely dried or cut flower arrangement (see note below about using a liner). In addition, this vase can also serve as a lovely urn for a loved one or a pet. The lid can either be sealed permanently (I recommend using E-6000 if a sealed lid is preferred), or left loose for future potential of scattering ashes.

This raku piece holds approx. 173 cubic inches. Generally, 1# of body weight requires 1 cubic inch for containment of cremains. i.e. a 50# pet would need an urn capacity of 50 cubic inches or more.

The basic exterior color is a lovely purple blue matte (not shiney) with a glossier raku glaze spattered over the surface. The lid to the piece is in a glossier glaze to compliment the glossy accents on the surface of the piece.

One of the benefits of using a lidded vase as an urn is that it can grace its environment as a meaningful memento of your loved one-to you- without announcing to everyone who sees it what its contents are. All else who view it will most naturally see it as an art object.

The vase displays beautifully on its own OR with a special arrangement of dried floral. I particularly love combining dried ornamental grasses, seed pods and peacock feathers!

This vase would be a great addition to any home or office setting as well as making a terrific gift item!

*Measures approx. 15" H (with lid) X 6 1/2" W (at its widest)

* Glazed inside and out

*Completely handmade

*As with all raku, it is one of a kind!

*Raku does remain porous, so if used for fresh flowers, a plastic liner is necessary. It displays beautifully on its own, but dried floral also looks stunning with it.
