Easy Pattern for sock toy, quick and easy pdf pattern

Perfect for up-cycling your favourite socks — or any other bright and cheerful knitted material. Quick and easy to make, this cute and slightly off-beat creature could be made in well under an hour. Standing just 4 inches tall, I have attached him to a lanyard so he can hang from a bag, although you could re-size the pattern and make him as big, or small, as you like!

The pattern is composed of 6 pages, with lots of photos and step-by-step instructions.

This pattern assumes only a very basic knowledge of sewing — running stitch, ladder stitch and blanket stitch. I used a sewing machine, but it could easily be sewn by hand. It would be a perfect first sewing project for a capable child, requiring just a little adult help.

You will need:

some stripey socks (I made two “sock bears” from one knee-length sock)
two 9mm safety eyes (available from 6060.etsy.com or 6060eyes.artfire.com)
small amount of polyester stuffing
scrap of felt for face
water erasable fabric marker pen
small sharp scissors
needle and thread
black cotton thread for mouth
lanyard (optional)
