These 1/4" circle dangles are cut from a strip of copper and sterling silver straight grain mokume gane. Mokume Gane japanese for "wood grained metals" was developed in feudal Japan to decorate the ever more elaborate handles and holders for the samurai swords. The layers of metal are difusion welded, in a furnace with no solder. The methods were lost for centuries but have been rediscovered. This is only 1 of many traditional patterns. The pattern goes all the way thru the metal to the back.

These 1/4" circles are on a long ear wire to give them understated elegance. They have been deeply domed with hammer and dapping block by hand, then they are given a light scratch brush finish. The copper has been treated with a chemical patina, or oxidizer, to bring out the contrast in the design and color it a rich brown. They have been waxed with multiple layers of wax to keep the silver bright, The sterling wires give them a total of almost 2" in length. They are extremely light which makes them easy to wear.

I ship the next business day USPO priority mail . I ensure anything over $100.00, unless you convo and ask otherwise. I have had very good fortune with the US Post. They will be wrapped in layers of anti tarnish tissue and shipped in a gossamer bag. Please let me know if you would like complimentary giftwrap, just convo me. Also if you have any other questions , convo me and I will answer to the best of my ability.

Hope you enjoy these earrings as much as I enjoy working with the metals!
