In stock and ready for quick shipping. Heavy latex mask with riveted elastic head straps.

Dr. Benway couldn't find any dried leather, so he had to make do with a small animal hide, the spine still attached to keep it rigid. Riveted, gasketed, and coated in black pitch, he was protected. Though his peers didn't have faith in the existence of animalculae, Dr. Benway knew otherwise, and tried to help the plague victims in the best way he knew how. But ultimately, his efforts with the blood letting and leeches were in vain. As the plague virus gained hold of infected brains, it started to override the synaptic responses for involuntary and coarse motor skills. The dead began to walk the earth.

Ok, so it isn't really an animal hide. If you want a real leather plague mask, Tom Banwell sells beautifully modeled pieces that are very well executed. These latex mask are my own interpretation of the work shown in the original German woodcuts. I sculpt, cast, and pour these tinted latex pieces, then rivet elastic straps and pop in Lexan eye covers. The Lexan eye covers are for display only: they are under tension from the rubber and could pop out and hit your eye, plus it is quite a bit easier to see and breathe with them out. If you want an affordable, hand made in the USA mask, this is the place.

Picture yourself wearing this half-mask with a black raincoat, and a brim hat. For a couple's costume, create some pox on your significant other, and go as the plague doctor and patient.

Zombies are so commonplace. This manages to be very creepy without bloody gore.

UK shipping takes 6-10 days to major markets, and is in a padded envelope. The eye pieces will likely pop out but are easily re-inserted.
