This is a huge lot of 64 amazing antique Keystone View Company Magic Lantern glass slides. I can't even begin to describe how awesome these are. The slides are labeled with a numbering system and a title and location in most cases. The subject matter varies from places, industry, farming and farms, textile mills, quarries, ports, manufacturing plants, historic landmarks, wonders of the world, scenic tourist attractions, occupations, people, labor, transportation, animals, and different cultures and countries.

These were sold to schools, colleges and organizations for educational purposes. The Keystone View company was formed in 1892 in Meadville,  Pennsylvania by B. L. Singley. Incorporated in 1895, the company went on to become the largest publisher of stereographs.  In 1898, it organized its highly successful Education Department, which produced boxed sets of images and descriptive text illustrating culture, industry, commerce, and politics for classroom use. Although the company hired it own professional photographers, it also purchased rights to other negatives, including a series of Underwood & Underwood negatives in 1912. One slide in this set is from Underwood & Underwood. The Keystone View Company continued operations until the 1970’s.

I'm not certain when these slides were made but by the subject matter, clothing, vehicles, etc. it is apparent that they are pre-WWII, making them late 1930's-40's or earlier.

The slides are black and white, or sepia toned. They are double glass mounted with black tape around the edges. They have a frame of white paper that bears the company name, Keystone View Company Studios, Meadville, PA Copyrighted, the item code number, serial number and the slide title and location (if applicable).

The slides measure 4” x 3.25”.

They are free of cracks but most have damage to the black tape. Some are loose in the tape, as they are double glass panes.

The drawer was once used in a cabinet that would be in the classroom for the teacher to organize the Keystone View slides according to subject matter. I am including the drawer in this sale. If you do not want the drawer, please contact me.

This set is truly astounding. It is mesmerizing to look at all the images, people, and see the way the world used to be.

These slides can be upcycled and repurposed into new items such as night lights, sun catchers, lamp shades, light box scenes, stained glass windows, etc. I can't emphasize enough how cool these really are!

At this price, you can even resell them individually and make a profit!

I will ship these for free within the continental USA only. Non-US buyers, contact me for a shipping quote.
