This design joins ethnographic elements from various tribal traditions and in true Bohemian style, the diverse patterns and textures compliment one another nicely. LAST PHOTO shows this necklace nested with another, which has its own listing.

The fabulous pendant is from Afghanistan, vintage, hand made of alpaca (a type of silver metal alloy). Other beads include antique African trade beads ( yellow with blue pattern and smaller green beads) made in Italy during the 2nd half of the 19th century and used for barter and trading in Africa. Other beads include old Indian silver filled with wax, to prevent denting, vintage African coins, Moroccan zebra shells (a favorite of the nomadic Berber tribe) and beads from Indonesia including samples that are both old vintage and contemporary. Old coin silver Ethiopian beads at the clasps (these are not the newer aluminum versions), a luscious red hummingbird egg bead (antique Bohemian, traded in Africa), vintage bone disks, and tribal amber - resin beads.

- The clasps are artisan crafted, large graceful swirls that facilitate easy fastening. If you'd like some chain added for extra length let me know at time of purchase and I will add it for you.

- The yellow "Banana" pattern African trade beads are unusually long and in good condition. A matched pair is difficult to find and I think they are what takes this design over the top!

- Baltic amber chunks rite atop small batik bone beads.

- Zebra ( sometimes called tamba shells in West African countries) shells kick up the excitement with their black and white stripes. No wonder the Berber women love them so. They are believed to have protective qualities keeping certain types of djinn at bay.

Nicely crafted tribal tassel measures 3 inches from tip of bail to the ends of the dangles below. I have not altered it from the condition it was in when I bought it - there's a nice patina.

FREE PRIORITY SHIPPING ( within the continental USA) with this purchase - be sure to email so I can provide the code before purchase. Shipping is free globally as well, but this is for regular First Class mail and does not include tracking or insurance. If you'd like these services, email so I can provide an estimate - your cost is the balance left after I pay for regular shipping to your country.

I do my best but please remember necklaces in photos can appear larger or smaller than they really are, depending on frame of reference. My mannequin is a size 4 petite so necklaces look a little larger on her than on an average size woman. For this reason I include a photo with my hand and a measuring tape. If you want photos of the necklace on a living person let me know and Ill get somebody to pose with it!
