I designed these pillows to attach to the top of the children's seat belts to eliminate the constant calls of "Mommy! I dropped my pillow!" and to give them something soft to sleep with while we travel. As an added bonus I've noticed it keeps their little heads from doing the bob and weave while they are sleeping as well.
This pattern is for the seat belt pillows I posted on my blog in April 2012. The pattern contains more detail and in-depth, step by step instructions for completing these pillows. Instructions also include information not in the original post on creating a more secure closure.
By making an insert that is stuffed and a removable cover you will have an easy to clean option for the car as well.
While I designed these to have minimal interaction with the seat belts themselves it is up to each individual to read their manufacturer's manual for both car seats and their vehicles and to decide
for themselves if they believe these to be useful and safe for their families.
This sewing pattern is best suited for advanced beginners who already know how to sew a straight stitch on their sewing machines and how to do some simple hand stitching.
