This gorgeous freehand, carved in the Danish tradition, is almost churchwarden length. It has a large bowl, nice rustication, and is in great condition.

Made in the Preben Holm workshop for Ben Wade. Probably Seventies.

The stem has some barely visible denting under the bit (see last photo).

A great pipe from a great maker carved in a classic style.

I deal in restored pipes - mostly briars. I've fully refurbished over 200 pipes, and my briars are better than new at half the price.

Why buy a refurbished pipe?
Let me count the reasons...
1 - No risk of bad stock. When buying a new briar, there is always a chance of getting one made from a flawed piece of briar - they can lead to unavoidable burnout or cracking. With a previously smoked pipe, you know you're getting a solid piece of briar.
2 - No need to break it in. I leave a thin cake in each of my pipes, meaning that you don't need to wrack your nerves slowly babying your pipe through the first few smokes - it's already prepared to take a delicious flavor with no risk of burning.
3 - Better finish. Many low and mid range briars come varnished. The finish on these pipes will crack and discolor with smoking. I strip the varnish off of my pipes and finish them properly with oil and carnauba wax, for a beautiful luster that won't fade with smoking.
4 - Price. Even a cheap briar will cost upwards of $30 new. My pipes start at $15, and most are priced around half their value new.
5 - Guarantee. I guarantee every pipe I sell. Within 30 days, you can return it for a refund or exchange with no questions asked. Your pipe doesn't quite suit you? No problem. I will find you a pipe that you love or give you a complete refund. Try to find that kind of guarantee on a new pipe.
6 - Service. I service every pipe that I sell. If you break it, sour it, or just want it shined up, I offer all the necessary repair and maintenance services at very reasonable prices.
