Dahlias, flower of garden connoisseurs! The ancient Mayan and Aztec civilizations of Central America dyed with dahlias. As with many flowers, the color of the petals is not necessarily the resulting color of the dye. This tie was dyed with the petals of deep magenta-purple flowers, which created a lovely gold color on the silk. The rich complexity of natural plant dyes is impossible to capture in photos. The colors are difficult to describe, changing their beauty with the light and angle of view. A traditional Japanese shibori technique was used to create the pattern.

The tie is heavy silk charmeuse, 4" wide and 60" long. There is a bit of ribbon on the back to hold the slender half in place.

I strive for the highest quality with the lowest environmental impact. No chemicals were used to produce this exquisite and completely unique necktie.

Spot clean, or if necessary handwash super ultra carefully in cool water, using a gentle pH balanced cleanser safe for silk, such as Shaklee Basic H, or All Free Clear. Hang to dry. Iron when barely damp on silk setting, no steam. Do not dry clean.

If you are an international customer, please know that I refund overpayments of shipping charges.
