This medium-size bike messenger bag is designed for a long life of rugged use.
The padded strap and main body are composed of rich, lightweight oil-tan utility leather that is soft yet sturdy to the touch. The leather is finished with a special treatment that allows for subtle changes in the color when the leather is exposed to stress. The original color can be restored simply by rubbing the leather with your fingers. This is considered a mark of high quality. This bag lovingly showcases unique marks in the leather which lend it a rich, aged look. One abstract brand has become a main feature of the top flap, and the number “5” is clearly visible on the bottom leather segment.
The canvas elements came from bits and pieces of an old hunting jacket from the local Salvation Army. I enjoy making new gear out of old things and watching their dignity and character take on new life in my products. The front pocket of this satchel still has a row of smaller elastic pockets on the inside for shotgun shells. The canvas, leather, and forest green piping have really come together in this bag to make a cohesive statement of rugged beauty.

This bag is very special to me. I have thoroughly enjoyed taking cast-off clothes and leather scraps and turning them into a thing of beauty. Every element has been designed with the utmost durability in mind. All high-tension seams are painstakingly hand-stitched with heavy-duty brown waxed thread. The thread that I use is too heavy to be used on any sewing machine that I know of, and the hand-stitching technique creates a seam that is stronger and more reliable than what any machine can replicate. Every structural machine stitch has been stitched over twice or three times to insure this bag’s long life.

This bag is made to my highest personal standards. I am incredibly proud of it, and I am pleased to be able to share the fruits of my labor with you. Please feel free to message me for more details.

This one-of-a-kind bag is ready to ship.

Measures 12 1/2” x 5” at the bottom, tapers up to a 16” opening at the top. 9” high.

NOTE: as there was only so much jacket to go around, this bag is unlined. Inner seams are raw and exposed, but are every bit as sturdy and durable as a bag with a finished interior. Small leftovers of the design process are also visible on the inside. Rather than detracting from the bag, these details draw attention to the fact that this is truly a handcrafted item. What the insides lack in polish, they make up for in heart.
