New Horizons World Guide: Pan Am’s Travel Facts about 112 Countries. This mid century travel guide from Pan American Airways is 640 pages of travel facts and tips from 1966. It measures 4 ½” x 6 ¼” and 1 ½” thick. It is in good vintage condition with some light wear to the cover, including some mild damage to the upper right corner of the front cover. Otherwise, it is in great shape! The original promotional sale sticker is still stuck on the front of the book!

Some of the things I love about this book:

-Yugoslavia is listed in the countries
-The prices for things at that time! Flipping through, I read that cigarettes are available in the hotels for the whopping price of 19-40 cents a pack!
-p. 592 under tipping: “Hat Check Girls get 10-25 cents” “Tip barbers 25-35 cents for a haircut; 25 cents for a shave; 10 cents for a shoeshine”
-They recommend Kingston as a place for tourists to walk around and sightsee in Jamaica. Yeah, I went to Jamaica for my honeymoon 5 years ago….Kingston is no longer a recommended place to sightsee. They told us to stay far away from there!
-The United States section in the back is especially interesting to read. “Nevada is the only state with legalized gambling.” “Drugstores are very popular for breakfast, and you can usually get a continental breakfast there, consisting of a roll and coffee, for about 25 cents”
