How could you make playing with this wooden toy antelope interesting? By introducing your children to its desert habitat and showing them how the colour of its coat could change with the seasons (and what it means for a species to be adapted to its environment), how the oldest female leads the herd, how addax is an easy prey for humans and predators (you could check our African collection for a lion / wild dog / cheetah / leopard) because of its slow movement. You could introduce children to the concept of an endangered species and inspire them to figure out ways to protect it.
Wooden animals are not just for stacking. This one is designed in a way which does not allow for stacking as it is not flat and chunky, but realistically and artistically designed to inspire the instinctive empathy for living creatures and appreciation of beauty and craftsmanship, to foster rich open-ended play, and thus stimulate imagination, thinking and speaking skills.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Do not soak in water. Wash each toy separately with soapy water with some vinegar. Rinse as quickly as possible. Immediately dry with a towel. Let air dry.
For disinfection you can use rubbing alcohol. We recommend spiritus aethylicus for medical purposes.
Do not put on or near heaters. Do not keep under direct sunshine for too long. Moisture and heat can cause warping and cracking in wood, so wooden products should not be exposed to these for too long.
When toys feel too dry, they need to be oiled and / or waxed. We recommend linseed oil and beeswax waxes. Other oils and waxes could be used too: mineral oil, jojoba oil, coconut oil. Vegans can use carnauba wax instead of beeswax.
