This piece started as a platter that I turned on the wheel, and then sculpted into a man sitting in meditation. Once he was formed, I put it back on the wheel and spun it at full speed while trailing porcelain slip around his head, creating a halo of drips shining out in every direction.

It is designed to hang on the wall on a single nail or screw that hooks under a ledge sculpted in on the back behind his head.

Approximately 14 inches in diameter by 2 inches deep. It has a celedon green crackle glaze on it that has been washed with sumi ink to enhance the crackle patterns. His face bears an intense concentration as he works diligently on purifying his mind, and his surroundings show a mixture of the difficulty of his inner work, with the expansive flow of it's rewards.

It was inspired by years of regular meditation practice as a piece to inspire insight, equanimity, and the strong determination to free the mind from it's unwholesome habits. Here comes another breath, everything is changing again.
