Highlights
Fabulous late 1800s Victorian natural undyed cameo ring. Featuring a wonderful hand carved high relief cameo of what looks to be Dionysus or Baccus since there are grape leaves entwined in the hair. Dionysus, the son of Zeus, was the mythological Olympian Greek God of winemaking, harvest and wine. He is shown either as an old bearded man or as in this case a young beardless youth with the symbolic grape leaf. A perfect ring for the wine enthusiast.
The mount is crafted in stamped 14k yellow gold with pretty filigree cutwork and is in very good condition. The cameo carving is still very crisp but does show some flaws to the coral including a possible hairline fracture along the neck which has been stabilised with jewellers glue. This is not visible to my naked eyes but found under magnification.
Size is M or 6.25 US and can be sized within reason - please enquire as my jewellers rates are very reasonable.
