Rare vintage Demitasse teacup and saucer from the Kungsholm restaurant in Chicago, Illinois. Kungsholm Which Name Is Taken From A Castle North Of Stockholm, And Literally Means 'King's Island' And The Food To Be Found Here Is Worthy Of So Noble Fame, Syracuse China, Designed Expressly For Kungsholm Chicago, by E.A. Hinrichs & Co" on the back. Front shows a central coat of arms with "Kungsholm Chicago". Beautiful cobalt blue finish with gold trim and detailing.

In 1937 famed restaurateur Fredrik A. Chramer leased the building and opened an expensive Scandinavian “smorgasbord.” The Kungsholm dining room was decorated in a Modern Swedish style with coats of arms representing each of the three Scandinavian countries. It was Chramer who turned the ballroom into a home movie theater and in 1940 was inspired by Danish puppet shows to create the internationally known Kungsholm Puppet Theater.

This rare teacup measures 3 1/8" high and 2.25" wide not including the handle. The saucer measures 4.5" across. It is in great condition. Please look at the photos closely to see the quality and condition.
