This pretty and colorful Egyptian necklace features a carved bone ankh charm, and gorgeous slice of blue tagua nut.

The pendant pair is suspended from a V-shaped St. Petersberg chain necklace, woven with bright lime green and dark turquoise blue seed beads. The thin slice of tagua nut provides a pretty backdrop for the smooth white ankh - each piece is stitched securely to the beadwork, but moves freely for a delicate sway. The necklace closes with a beaded button and loop clasp made with matching beads.

Dimensions: The pendant is 3 cm (1.2 inches) long, and 2.7 cm (1 inches) wide. Each side of the necklace is 26.5 cm (10.4 inches) long, for a total length of about 52 cm (20.5 inches). The beaded button measures 2 cm (0.8 inches) across.

The ankh is an Egyptian symbol of vitality and eternal life, as well as the hieroglyph for the word ‘life’. It was commonly found in Egyptian jewelry and amulets, as well as in the hands of gods in tomb paintings and texts. Though it is unknown where the symbol originated, one of the most common theories is that the ankh is a merging of the symbols for male and female. Some scholars believe that it represents the shape of a sandal strap or the belt of Isis.

This beadwork necklace is woven with Japanese glass seed beads and durable fused nylon thread, which provides lasting jewelry that won’t stretch or lose its shape. The ankh pendant is made from carved and polished bone, while the tagua slice is made from dyed and polished vegetable ivory. These beautiful, lightweight pendants come from the nuts of the ivory palm, which fall naturally from the tree, and are collected in South America to be dried, carved, and dyed.

This one of a kind Egyptian jewelry comes wrapped in tissue, packed securely with clean, repurposed bubble wrap or foam sheet, and shipped in a durable Canada Post cushion mailer.
