Description

Hematite is usually paired with silver, but I tried it with gold for a change, and I must admit I like the results. I mixed in the sea-foam green of Aventurine for an additional color surprise.

These petite dangles measure 1 1/4 inches in length.*

Both Hematite and Aventurine are considered healing stones, to body mind and spirit. Hematite is thought to purify the blood and is also believed to relieve mental stress and bring order to chaotic situations. Aventurine promotes compassion and empathy and encourages perseverance. Many believe that Aventurine has the capacity to calm a troubled spirit and bring inner peace.

Hematite is the main ore of iron. Hematite in its pure form is rarely used for jewelry, as it very fragile and brittle, and breathing the dust is dangerous. So "Hematite" jewelry, and the beads I use are no exception, is actually "Hemalyke," which is ground Hematite mixed with a binder or resin to strengthen it. It is identical to Hematite in appearance and weight, except more stable and wearer-friendly.

Gold-filled means that the outer 10% is 10k-14k gold bonded to an inner filling of a harder metal for strength and durability. The result is a metal with the same look and wearability of karated gold at a fraction of the cost. Gold-filled is NOT gold-plated! The layer of gold on gold-plated items is 1/1000 of the total metal content, and as you probably know, it rubs off easily. Conversely, Gold-Filled is very substantial and does not erode away with normal wear or cleaning. People with metal sensitivities can usually wear gold-fill without experiencing the irritation that base metals can cause.

All of my french hook earrings come with rubber stoppers for added security and stability, but use of the tips is optional depending upon the preference of the wearer. Earrings come in a recyclable poly pouch which can be used for storage to minimize tarnish.

* Length is measured from the apex of the ear wire to the bottommost point.

I am sorry to hear that the rubber clutches tarnished the sterling ear wires. I've never had this happen before. I have a 100% satisfaction guarantee and am sending you pre-paid postage to return the items so that I can re-make them and replace them.

These are pretty, but one of the hooks was mangled in transport (insufficient packaging), and part of its hook blackened where the nylon back was placed.

I'm so sorry to hear that the earring arrived damaged and that the rubber clutch caused the sterling to tarnish. I want you to be 100% satisfied, so I am replacing the earrings for you.
