This laser cut jigsaw puzzle features pieces that make up a Sumerian Cuneiform Brick from ancient Mesopotamia. The jigaw is features a complete cuneiform inscription from the king Ur-Namma, who ruled the southern Babylonian city of Ur c. 2100 BCE. It’s the perfect gift for the history nerd in your life (or for yourself, if you identify as a history nerd!).
The puzzle is based on this stamped brick, which was used in building the ziggurat at the ancient city of Ur: https://cdli.ucla.edu/search/search_results.php?SearchMode=Text&ObjectID=P226876
The inscription translates as follows:
Ur-Namma, king of Ur, is the one who built the temple of Nanna.
This puzzle is slightly easier than our other cuneiform puzzle, as it’s only single-sided 😁
