If you have the walnut bedroom set with wonderful feet like these, here is the hard-to-find cedar chest or bench for the foot of your bed!

Vintage walnut veneer chest, completely lined inside with cedar boards. The chest has ornate feet, burl veneer decor and wood applique embellishments.

This is an estate piece, and the previous owner padded and covered the top to match her bedroom linens. I peeled away a front corner and you can see in the last picture it was originally made with just a wood lid, as you can see the nice molding on the edge of it.

There is a non-skid lining glued to the top (does peel up if I work at it with a fingernail, a hair dryer would faster). I think she sat on this to put on shoes, etc, and wanted her deep padding to stay in place, hence the non-skid liner.

I have no idea what the rest of the lid looks like, but I'm sure that at the very least it will need to be GooGone'd to lift the old adhesive and refinished to match the existing wood, if it is your decision to return it to an all-wood chest.

OR, you could keep it as a bed, window or dressing bench and recover this cedar chest with fabric to match your bedroom or living room decor.

OR, you could go all shabby cottage chic and paint it. Those wonderful appliqued wood moldings lend this piece to all kinds of creativity under a paint brush!

About 39" long, 19-1/4' high and 17-1/4" deep.

Very sturdy, excellent condition to the feet and glued joints. Only 2 things to point out are the right end has some veneer bubbling, and there is some finish scrapes, especially on the feet, which wood stain would mostly -- if not entirely -- fix.

Fabulous and functional vintage decor item!
