Toothbrush Rag Rug Kit with starter piece - A traditional cloth-knotting kit for making rugs, baskets, place mats, purses, pins and more. Included are a handmade needle, easy-to-follow instructions, a guide for adding strips without sewing, an easy to follow color illustration knotting guide, project ideas, a started sample and prepared fabric strips.

The instructions are for tying a knot similar to tying shoe laces. For Right handed work right to left with needle in right hand. For left handed work from left to right holding the needle to knot using your left hand.

The kit includes directions for making round,oval and rectangle rugs. I have included tips and tricks that I have learned over the years like quick starts, how to save on materials and ways to add decorative edgings. In addition I include a started round sample that coordinates with the instructions; just continue with included strips to complete a 6" or larger hot pad. There are no confusing line drawings used in the instructions.
It is great for recycling fabric, just like making a quilt and preserving memories. Also a great way to use leftover material from quilting. Fabric strips, rolls of mill end fabric and jelly rolls are great too.

We have been in business designing kits, making the tools, painting and writing books for over 16 years including the Rag Rug kits. I am often asked about instructions for using the left hand. The round shapes worked with the right hand is in a counter-clockwise direction for round shapes and right to left for rectangle shapes. For left handed if you find it necessary to change direction work clockwise for round and left to right for rectangle. The knot is worked the same no matter what direction is comfortable for you.
