A set of 4 handcrafted wooden serving trays with Chinese character inlay.
The trays are made out of sapele/sapelle/sapelli wood and the inlay for the Chinese characters is made out of sycamore. There is a golden epoxy inlay ring around the edge of the tray. Circular handle cutout for easy handling and for hanging the trays as decorations on the wall when not using!
Sapele is an exotic hardwood and can withstand cutting with great durability. So serving cheese, snacks on these trays, or use as travel size cutting boards are ideal. The sapele has a beautiful shimmering pattern or chatoyance when seen under good light source. The light and dark grain shift and change position depending on the angle of view.
Meaning of each tray, very common Chinese characters to symbolize "good luck" and used as decorations during Lunar New Year and throughout the year for special occasions and holidays.

The trays are carefully hand sanded and sand-wet-sand down to 400 grit, coated with food-safe Walrus Pure Mineral Oil and then finished and polished with Walrus Cutting Board Oil, 100% food-safe and free of toxins and synthetics, it is a blend of coconut oil, mineral oil, vitamin E and beeswax.
NEVER put your wood board/tray in the dishwasher. Clean by gently wiping the surface with warm water. Avoid soap as it may dry out the board and remove the oil and wax finish that is protecting the board. If soap is used, reapplying conditioner with the tips from the maintenance info below.
The maintenance of any wood serving boards is extremely important for the longevity of your investment and to keep the board from drying out or splitting. We highly recommend monthly or bi-monthly application of a cutting board oil or wax to season your wood board and keep it looking beautiful and stay in good condition. Examples of food-save cutting board oils and waxes are Howard Cutting Board Oil, Howard Butcher Block Conditioner and our favorite so far the Walrus Cutting Board Oil, which can be purchased online and at most major hardware stores and wood/lumber supply stores.
