Description

Rustic Kyanite, Pearl, and Sterling Necklace

Long and Lean -- Kyanite and freshwater pearls with sterling silver

This rustic style necklace features smooth flat-faced plates of Kyanite and freshwater pearls wire-wrapped (with sterling wire) into the links of a naturally oxidized sterling silver chain. It is 24 inches long and closes with a sterling triade-style hidden-hook-and-eye clasp. With the length of the kyanite slabs measuring between .75 inches and 1.5 inches long, this gives a dramatic drop to the necklace.

Kyanite gets its name from the Greek word "kyanos," meaning "blue." Kyanite is said to encourage honesty, loyalty, and tranquility while discouraging anger and confusion. Mixed with the kyanite are long freshwater pearls. Pearls are one of the birthstones for my birth month, June. With the smooth glassy blue of the kyanite and the pearls, this necklace makes me think of the ocean on a clear day with blue skies and fluffy white wisps of clouds.

While not a traditional triade symbol (which is drawn in one continuous line, suggesting a fluid movement of time), the clasp does had a pretty triple spiral detail. The hook and eye is hidden on the underside of the clasp, so that only the swirl detail shows on the outside. The triade, or triskele, is a traditional triple swirl Celtic symbol and is one of the most common elements in Celtic artifacts. Some say that the trinity represents the earthly life, the afterlife, and reincarnation -- but I have also seen it listed as representing the realms of earth, sea, and air.

I am sorry to hear that the rubber clutches tarnished the sterling ear wires. I've never had this happen before. I have a 100% satisfaction guarantee and am sending you pre-paid postage to return the items so that I can re-make them and replace them.

These are pretty, but one of the hooks was mangled in transport (insufficient packaging), and part of its hook blackened where the nylon back was placed.

I'm so sorry to hear that the earring arrived damaged and that the rubber clutch caused the sterling to tarnish. I want you to be 100% satisfied, so I am replacing the earrings for you.
