I cannot be sure what these vintage tongs were used for, but I think they were intended to crack lobster or crab claws. Or they could possibly have been used as a nutcracker or sugar nips. There are no markings anywhere that I can find. The tongs have scissor-like handles that are inlaid with mother of pearl and they appear to be made of steel. I think they may have been manufactured in Germany. The tongs measure 5-1/8" long and are 2" across closed. These scissor tongs show wear typical of their age, but the mother of pearl handles are in very good condition. These tongs are also in excellent working condition.
