Description

Very cold hardy clumping (non running) bamboo, down to -10f.

This is a great bamboo for those who live in the northern tier of the US.

Tolerates deep shade, but can take morning sun with afternoon shade.

Has a somewhat weeping habit as it matures.

Fargesia denudata

Height x Diameter: 10'-15′ x .5″.

USDA zones: 5-9

Minimum temperature: -10°f.

Light: Morning sun, afternoon shade.

Culm: Butter scotch yellow

Uses: Specimen, hedge, container, screen, crafts.

Distribution: 6,000'-10,000' in northern Sichuan China.

Spread: Clumping.

The Fargesia denudata is perhaps one of the least know Fargesia. It has a nice, graceful, arching habit, making it look almost like a weeping bamboo. Though it does tolerate some heat, it does best with some shade, especially in the afternoon. It is similar to the Fargesia murielae, but with smaller foliage.

You are purchasing one plant grown in a #1 (one gallon) size container, which is removed and your plant is shrink wrapped in plastic for shipping purposes. The plant you are purchasing is approximately 1-2 years old, 1-2 feet tall and with multiple culms (canes).

The last photo is an example of the a #1 Fargesia denudata , however, it is not the exact plant that you will receive.

SHIPPING

We ship FedEx ground in the continental US. Plants are fertilized, sprayed with a wilt proof to help prevent moisture loss and packaged in water holding polymers to keep your plants watered during shipping. We ship on Mondays and Fridays.

We are a licensed, wholesale nursery located in Oregon. We grow 75 varieties of bamboo, including dwarf, mid size, giant timber, black and clumping. If you don't see what you are looking for, come back soon! We are always adding more listings.

My bamboo was dead on arrival. I tried to plant it anyway, but no luck. The plant was delivered while I was out of town. There was a mandatory evacuation of my city for Hurricane Florence. It was on my doorstep for a few days until I returned. I contacted the shop to tell them of my situation and asked if the plant would live. A few days later they responded with basically "I don't know. Put some B vitamins on it." Most gardening companies would show some concern that a customer received a dead plant. Most human beings would show some empathy for the fact that one of the factors involved was a deadly hurricane that affected my family. Most etsy stores respond to questions quickly and informatively. But not this one. Very disappointed.

Although this customer did not reach out to us in regards to this, we suspect it was due to the excessive heat (100ºf-110ºf)that the Phoenix area had been having.

The most common factors being: not watering a plant when necessary, extreme weather conditions such as heat and cold, plants that were not suitable for your climate.
Yellowing foliage from being in a box for up to a week is not uncommon. At times up to 50% yellowing can occur. Don't panic! It's not unusual. Your plant will eventually shed the yellow leaves. Bamboo goes through a few “growth spurts” from Spring through Fall. Your bamboo will add more foliage when it goes through its next period of growth. Water it what would be a normal rate for you area. Canes that have some damage from shipping may be cut back to just below the damage. This does not hurt bamboo and new shoots will emerge the next time your plant begins to put on new growth. Please use the Etsy messaging system if you have any questions about your plant when it arrives.
