Processing Type: Unrefined
Country of Origin: Morocco
Description: Organic unrefined Moroccan argan oil is pale yellow in color and composed of monounsaturated fatty acids (80%) and saturated fatty acids (20%). It is also rich in vitamin E, squalene, polyphenols, sterols, and triterpene alcohols. Argan oil’s most noticeable effects for skin are in increasing hydration and elasticity and reducing inflammation. Evidence for these effects come from studies on the topical (skin) application of argan oil among postmenopausal women. In these studies, argan oil was found to significantly decrease trans-epidermal water loss in skin and to significantly increase the water content of the epidermis (outer layer of skin), the gross-elasticity of skin, net elasticity of skin, and biological elasticity of skin. Owing to its high concentration of phenols, argan oil is a strong anti-inflammatory, free radical scavenging, and antiseptic agent and is useful for soothing inflammation and skin and scalp disorders such as eczema and psoriasis and protecting against oxidative stress (thus, delaying signs of aging such as fine lines and wrinkles). As far as hair is concerned, argan oil works to decrease protein and moisture loss and frizz. It provides these effects by decreasing the swelling propensity of the hair cuticle, the upward curving of the surface cuticle, and the chipping away of cuticle cells. This protective effect of argan oil has also been confirmed in hair treated with commercial hair dyes including ultra-blond hair dye.
Suggested Uses: Day and night intensive face moisturizer; anti-aging serum; skin and scalp inflammation; hot oil treatment for dry, distressed, and damaged hair; leave-in hair treatment; hair sheen; frizz control

The benefits of flaxseed oil for hair are equally glowing. Topical application of flaxseed oil on scalp and hair after four weeks has been shown to improve the width or diameter of hair strands, which contributes to fuller and thicker-looking hair. Importantly also, the ALA content of flaxseed oil has been found to inhibit the 5 alpha reductase type 2 enzyme which promotes the proliferation of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone that shrinks hair follicles, changes the cyclic phase of the hair growth cycle, and contributes to hair thinning and loss.
Suggested Uses: Skin elasticity and smoothness; day and night face moisturization; face cleansing; sensitive scalp and skin; hair loss and thinning; fine hair; leave-in and deep conditioning treatment for hydration and volume
7. Hemp Seed Oil
Standard of Production/Certification: Organic
Extraction Method: Cold Pressed
Processing Type: Unrefined
Country of origin: Canada
Description: Organic unrefined hemp seed oil is dark green in color and has a remarkable fatty acid profile. Precisely, it is composed of 80% polyunsaturated fatty acids (particularly linoleic and alpha-linoleic acids), 11% monounsaturated fatty acids (primarily, oleic acid), and 9% saturated fatty acids (mainly, palmitic and stearic acids). It is also rich in flavonoids, phenols, and tannins. These various constituents of hemp seed oil make it an extremely multi-purpose oil, effective at moisturizing and softening both skin and hair, promoting skin radiance and anti-aging, soothing inflammation and acne, acting as a natural UV protectant, cleansing skin, hair, and scalp of dirt, sebum, and sweat, tightening skin spores, and preventing hair loss. Clinical evidence suggests that the essential fatty acids in hemp seed oil contribute to its ability to hydrate the skin and hair; precisely, omega 3, 6 and oleic acid (omega 9) work in concert to improve the softness, suppleness, and smoothness of skin and hair without leaving them greasy. The oleic acid in hemp seed oil has also been found to promote skin radiance and to reduce wrinkles and fine lines; relatedly, hemp seed oil’s flavonoids protect the skin against oxygen and nitrogen free radicals and in so doing, help to delay free radical-induced signs of aging. As far as acne is concerned, hemp seed oil is considered a non-comedogenic, dry oil which makes it perfect for individuals seeking to balance oil/sebum production and settle acneic skin. Additionally, the linoleic and linolenic acids in hemp seed oil have anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties and help in the improvement of acne vulgaris (chronic acne). Concerning its UV protection capabilities, hemp seed oil has an SPF rating of 6 and can be used as a low broad spectrum UV protectant. Importantly, it can deflect UV rays without preventing the skin’s absorption of vitamin D which is a vital nutrient for the body. As far as the skin’s pores (and hair and scalp) are concerned, the stearic acid in hemp seed oil has cleansing properties that help to remove dirt, sebum, and sweat; additionally, the tannins in hemp seed oil act as natural astringents and work to remove excess oil from skin pores, tighten them, and fight against bacteria that cause acne. Lastly, concerning hair loss, the alpha-linoleic acid present in hemp seed oil prevents hair loss by blocking the 5 alpha reductase type 2 enzyme which promotes the proliferation of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone that shrinks hair follicles and disrupts the cyclic phase of the hair growth cycle.

It is also rich in vitamin E, phytosterols, and squalene and has more iron than cold pressed grapeseed oil. As it concerns the benefits of its chemical composition, palmitoleic acid, a predominant fatty acid in macadamia nut oil, is also a major component of the human sebum that keeps hair and skin healthy and moisturized. This means that macadamia nut oil, much like jojoba oil, is very effective at moisturizing and soothing the hair and skin, including very sensitive or easily irritated skin types. The phytosterols in macadamia nut oil also contribute to its suitability for sensitive skin as phytosterols help to reduce itching, redness, and soothe irritated skin. As far as hydration of skin and hair is concerned, the oleic acid in macadamia nut oil makes it effective at softening and moisturizing the hair and skin. Vitamin E’s water binding ability also contributes to macadamia nut oil’s effectiveness at increasing and maintaining the moisture level of the skin and hair. Research also suggests that macadamia nut oil has anti-aging benefits; precisely, topical application of macadamia nut oil has been shown to reduce pore size and wrinkles, in part because of its oleic acid and squalene contents that promote skin cell regeneration and are also antioxidant and anti-inflammatory; squalene in particular also helps to protect skin from UV-induced lipid peroxidation. Lastly, the iron content of macadamia nut oil can, over time, promote hair growth as iron helps in the production of hemoglobin which is important for hair growth.
Suggested Uses: Calming and soothing skin and scalp serum; body massage oil for sensitive skin types; day and night intensive face and skin moisturizer; anti-aging serum; pore refining serum; leave-in and deep conditioning hair treatment; hair growth serum

It is a pale yellow to greenish yellow in color and extremely rich in collagen, vitamins A, B, C, and E, oleic, linoleic, and behenic acids, and zinc. As far as skin benefits are concerned, moringa oil’s collagen content, which is four times greater than that in carrot oil, helps to rebuild the skin’s collagen fibers which reduces wrinkling and blemishes and firms up the skin. Antioxidant vitamins A, B, C, and E present in moringa oil also contribute to its anti-aging ability. First, vitamins A and B are both very effective at improving fine lines, wrinkles, sagging, and the appearance of pores. Vitamin C gently sloughs away dead skin cells and, in so doing, promotes a brighter, more youthful skin complexion. Vitamin E stimulates new skin cell growth (cellular regeneration) which overtime reduces the visibility of dark spots on the skin; vitamin E also works in concert with the linoleic, oleic, and behenic acids in moringa oil to impart moisture and maintain a good level of hydration in skin. Lastly, the antioxidants present in moringa oil work together to inhibit the activities of free radicals on the skin which reduces free radical-induced skin aging and damage. Concerning other skin benefits, studies suggest that topical application of moringa oil significantly reduces excessive or undesirable skin sebum during the winter season (which is good news for individuals with oily or combination skin) and speeds up wound healing. Finally, as far as hair benefits are concerned, the presence of zinc in moringa oil makes it appropriate for inclusion in hair serums focused on promoting stronger, more healthy hair growth as zinc supports the production of keratin which is the main building block of hair. Additionally, moringa oil also provides a similar level of hydration to hair as it does to skin and gives much needed strength and fortification to weak strands from its high concentration of collagen.

Its viscosity and average rate of absorbency makes it not only incredibly hydrating but useful for preventing moisture loss from skin and hair. Aside from its hydrating ability, tamanu oil is one of the foremost healing and reparative oils available, demonstrating significant antioxidant, UV filtration, antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and wound closure effects in research studies. The neoflavonoids in tamanu oil are responsible for its antioxidant and anti-UV properties and have been shown to provide significant protection for the skin against damage caused by free radicals and UV rays. In fact, tamanu oil is one of a very few oils that can absorb UV light within the broad absorption spectrum of 260 to 400nm. As far as antibacterial activity is concerned, tamanu oil has been shown to be effective against various bacterial strains such as Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, and strains involved in acne including Propionibacterium acnes and Propionibacterium granulosum which makes it a great oil for acne treatment. Tamanu oil also exhibits a strong inhibiting activity on several fungal strains (Alternaria tenuissima, Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus fumigatus, Candida albicans, and Candida tropicalis) which makes it a suitable for treating fungal infections of the skin and scalp. Lastly, calophyllolide in tamanu oil is responsible for its strong anti-inflammatory property and ability to accelerate wound healing, making it a great treatment for inflamed and bruised skin and scalp.
