This is an awesome electric fence charger from the 1950's. It's called "The Surge Fencer" and it was manufactured by Babson .Bros. Co. in Chicago Illinois.

This is the Model AC and it's made for indoor/outdoor use on 110 volt, 60 cycle A.C. only. It was approved by the Industrial Commission of Wisconsin 3-43.

It's equipped with Sangamo mechanical action, rocking mercury switch and a bulbous neon indicator.

This unit does work but we DO NOT recommend using it until the worn insulated wires have been replaced.

The neon indicator bulb does not work but they are still manufactured and can be purchased. The bulb is a NE-30. There is some rust present on the black metal back piece.

It has a good seal and the porcelain insulators are present and unbroken. The decal has age cracking but the colors are vibrant and wording is clear.

Excellent piece of industrial farming history or great for your steampunk project.
