I have created this DIY microgreens garden kit containing everything you need to grow your own microgreens:
1. The vintage 1970s stoneware cachepot with a scrolled band as shown, an earthy brown ceramic glazed with creamy beige. I have attached small rubber pads on the bottom of the pot to protect your furniture, counter or windowsill. This ceramic pot measures approximately 3-3/4 inches wide and 3-1/2 inches tall.
The simple, classic design of this vintage stoneware cachepot will complement any decor. It's the only one I have found, so this kit is truly one of a kind.
2. Organic seeds produced especially for growing as microgreens, enough to grow 2 crops.
I've shown this gourmet garden kit planted with Kitty Cat Grasses (first photo) or China Rose Radishes (second photo), but you may choose any of the organic microgreens seeds I carry:
Chia (Salvia hispanica)
China Rose Radish
Kitty Cat Grasses
Long Island Dill
Red Garnet Amaranth
Let me know your seed choice in the pull-down list above, or specify in Notes to Seller. (If you don't have a preference, I'll be happy to choose for you.)
3. Decorative gravel for drainage.
Since I do not drill holes in the vintage container, this layer of gravel allows any excess water to drain away from the seedling roots. Wash the gravel between crops, and you can continue to re-use it as many times as you like.
4. Organic seedling starter soil mix that I custom-blend especially for microgreens.
I include enough seedling starter soil to successfully raise 2 crops in your Pocket Garden.
(You may continue to use the soil for additional crops if you add soil supplements; otherwise, I recommend you recycle it in compost, or top-dressing other potted plants, then start your 3rd Pocket Garden with fresh soil mix.)
5. Complete instructions for growing your own Pocket Garden of microgreens.
Following my easy, step-by-step directions, you can create your own microgreens garden in less than 15 minutes. Then just add water and sunshine, and within 5 to 10 days you'll be harvesting your own super-fresh, super-nutritious microgreens!
You can grow your Pocket Garden indoors in a sunny windowsill, or, weather permitting, outdoors in a sheltered spot.
Please note that I do *not* ship the live plants shown in the photos. They're too delicate! I ship the seeds and materials listed above as a DIY microgreens kit.
I ship via USPS Priority mail to USA addresses, so that means delivery within 2 to 3 business days. To Canada, I ship via USPS First Class International, which means delivery within 10 to 14 business days.
I regret that I cannot ship seeds or soil to countries outside the US and Canada, due to international restrictions on agricultural products. I can, however, ship the planters anywhere in the world, and you can locally source your seeds and soil. Just drop me a line for a custom listing.
Microgreens are vegetable, herb and grain seedlings harvested beyond the sprout stage, but before the baby greens stage of growth. Microgreens are more nutritious and sanitary than sprouts, and tastier than baby greens!
Anyone can grow microgreens, anywhere there's a little sunshine, any time of year. Requiring only a week or two from the time you plant to the time you harvest, microgreens provide instant gratification for busy people, and can be a fascinating project for children.
Each seedling you cut will taste amazingly like its grown-up counterpart: radish microgreens are spicy like a radish, amaranth microgreens taste like an earthy grain, and broccoli microgreens taste like, well, broccoli!
Microgreens can be used in any recipe that calls for sprouts: they're super in salads and sandwiches, for starters. Toss a handful into smoothies ... fold some into an omelette!
