Never leave a candle burning unattended. Candles should always be kept away from drafts, vents, ceiling fans, air currents and out of the reach of children and pets. Keep candles away from drapes, furniture, bedding, carpets, books, paper, and other flammable objects. Always trim candle wicks to 1/4 inch prior to each burning. Always burn candles in a candle holder specifically designed for candle use, which means it should be heat resistant, sturdy, and large enough to contain any drips or melted wax. Also, be sure that the candle holder is placed on a stable, heat resistant surface to prevent possible heat damage to counters and table surfaces and prevent glass containers from cracking or breaking. Always keep the wax pool free from debris such as wick trimmings, matches, and other objects at all times. Always read and follow the manufacturer's labels for use and safety, and never burn a candle longer than the manufacturer recommends. Always burn candles in a well ventilated room, and don't burn too many in a small room or tight home where air exchange is limited. Don't burn a candle all the way down, and extinguish the flame if it comes too close to the holder or container. For a margin of safety, discontinue burning a candle a candle when 2 inches of was remain or 1/2 inch if candle is in a container. Never touch or move a burning candle when the wax is liquid. Never use a knife or or sharp object to remove wax drippings from a glass container because it might weaken, scratch, or cause the glass to break with subsequent use. Place burning candles 3 inches apart from one another to ensure that they do not melt each other, or create their own drafts that will cause the candle to burn incorrectly. Always use a candle snuffer to extingush a candle because it is the safest way to prevent hot wax from splattering. Never extinguish a candle with water because the water can cause the hot wax to splatter and might cause a glass container to break. Be very careful when using candles during a power outage and never use a candle during a power outage to look for things in a closet or while fueling equipment such as a lantern or kerosene heater. Flashlights and other battery powered equipment are safer sources of lighting during a power outage. Also, never use a candle as a night light. Ensure that a candle is completely extinguished and the wick ember is no longer glowing prior to leaving a room, and immediately extinguish a candle if it smokes, flickers repeatedly, or the flame becomes too high because the candle is not burning properly and the flame is not controlled. Let the candle cool, trim the wick, and check for drafts prior to relighting.
Please remember to trim wick before burning,
