Description

A handmade beaded spider ornament, with a royal purple glass pearl head bead and purple, silver and black faceted glass body bead. This ornament measures approximately 4 inches and comes with a matching hook and the Christmas Spider Legend.

Spiders are an ancient symbol of mystery, power, growth and possibility! They are seen as omens of good luck, are featured in hundreds of myths and folk stories from all over the world - and even given the role of the Creator or gods and goddesses in many cultures. I always make my ornaments facing upwards because of the saying that if you see a spider climbing up its thread it symbolizes good news coming your way. These ornaments can be used as sun catchers or decoration all year long - I hang a super sparkly one from the rear view mirror of my car and have a few in my kitchen windows!

My youngest son and I started making these for gifts when we learned about the German and Ukrainian folk tale that tells of how the tradition of putting tinsel on the Christmas tree came to be. There are two versions of this legend - Father Christmas or the Christ Child; you will receive the Father Christmas version unless you specifically ask for the Christ Child version.

Additional quantities and color combinations are usually available. Please contact me with questions or for a custom order!
