This copy of The General Foods Kitchens Cookbook dates back to 1959, a basic, all purpose cookbook presented by "The Women of General Foods Kitchens".

The book is divided into ten chapters which give a charming glimpse into what life was like for the typical housewife just prior to the '60s.

1. Family Meals ~ including tips on how to put a dinner together and what to do about leftovers
2. Company for dinner ~ The bit on the "Seated Dinner" has a brief passage entitled "When you have a Maid."
3. Cooking Meals from Home and Abroad ~ Recipes for a Chuck Wagon Breakfast and an Alpine Fondue Party
4. Daytime Entertaining ~ "When it is your turn for the bridge club..."
5. It's a Party ~ Recipes for children's parties and a few for when your teen ager entertains
6. Home for the Holidays ~ Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving
7. Family Milestones ~ Including extensive information on hosting the wedding reception
8. The Meals Outdoors ~ Picnics and such
9. How to feed a crowd ~ Such as a Sunday-school Kindergarten party
10. How to Rise to the Occasion ~ A menu suitable for a sick neighbor and other occasions

There is also information on stain removal and how to selvage cooking disasters.

While the book is in good condition, it does show some wear, as seen in the pictures: there are some spots along the bottom, and a small tear at the top of the spine. The chapter on Family Milestones was apparently consulted and used for a family wedding. The corner page is folded down, and the requirements for the bride's table marked "here". Let's hope this informative book helped make that a beautiful occasion.

Please note that this listing is for the cookbook only. The props: cookbook stand, and canisters are not included.
