How charming is this ceramic pig saucisson serving dish? "Saucisson" or "saucisson sec," is a variety of thick, dry cured sausage that originates in France. Typically made of pork, or a mixture of pork and other meats, saucisson are a type of charcuterie similar to salami or summer sausage.

It's in fantastic condition in white glazed ceramic with blue ribbon decoration along the top edge and the French words "Le Saucisson" on one side of the pig. It stands on four solid feet. Under the belly there is the maker's print that says: "Apilco Porcelaine France". Apilco is the French company that has supplied culinary professionals with restaurant-quality porcelain wares since 1906. The high-fired porcelain is wonderfully versatile and suitable for everyday dining as well as entertaining.

This will make a great conversation starter over lunch (the French don't do brunch) as you serve a platter of French delicacies: fresh bread, cheeses and of course, saucisson!

We've done a great deal of research and we can only find a cow porcelain creamer by Apilco. So you're about to own a rare piece of porcelain!
