Fair trade from Ghana, our Shea Butter is unrefined and provided to us by a certified organic source. You will notice a nutty type scent, since it is in it's natural virgin state shea butter. Made from the pits of the African Shea tree, the color of it can vary in shades of light beige/gray to deeper tones of beige. It is totally handcrafted in the villages.

Our shea butter is very creamy and rich. It melts on the skin and is very gentle. Excellent to use in it's natural state or in personal care products such as lotions, creams, lip balm and more. Historically used for toning and restoring elasticity to the skin, creating shiny hair and enriching the scalp.

For making soap, since shea butter is very high in unsaponifiables, you must use it as a super fatting material (2 to 5% of your total fats and oils).

As with many natural ingredients, the texture, color and scent can vary slightly. Mother Nature is not perfect. Our butter is handrafted by villagers in Ghana, Africa. There may be pieces of the husk still in the butter, which disintegrates on contact. This is normal. Many who are not used to this mistake this for mold. Please know this is NOT mold. All butters we sell are tested for quality in a U.S. lab prior to being released for sale. This ensures that it is fresh and free of any bacteria, mold, fungus, etc. Our butters are of the highest quality. You can always count on Wild Herb to deliver the very best!

TIPS: Be careful not to overheat shea butter when making products with it, as it will have a grainy feel to it. Do not heat above 155 degrees F.
Best when stored in dark, cool place. Shelf life: 1 to 2 years. We purchase the butter frequently so it's always FRESH!
