📌 Embroidery Colors
Each piece is handmade and unique, therefore the colors of the lines used differ in each piece - and from the ones in the photos, as - per tradition - the colors are chosen by the embroiderers in the creation process.


🖤 Viana Embroidery History:
The Viana Embroidery had its origins in the ancient customs of the peasant women from the Minho region, with the intention that their clothes were embellished to be displayed on feast days or fairs. The motifs used are of rural and romantic inspiration, arranged symmetrically, with a preponderance of floral arrangements, with camellias, clovers, hearts, among others.

The touching simplicity of the designs created in an intuitive way contrasts with the richness of the embroidery used, in its multitude of stitches born from the hands of the embroiderers of Viana do Castelo.

The Viana Embroidery are manually worked in cotton thread on linen or cotton fabric, and are still used to this day to enrich traditional customs, but also applied in a huge variety of artisanal products, from home textiles to fashion.
