Description

Nothing says "I love you" like Guh-gey-yoo-i. It is printed here boldly and beautifully in the Cherokee syllabary in white on one side of a generously portioned, deep red bistro mug. Cherokee is a soft, melodic language spoken by about 20,000 people in Oklahoma and North Carolina. Sequoyah, in 1821, created a writing system for Cherokee using symbols to represent each of the 85 sounds of the language. Seen on this mug, each of the four symbols represents a sound. Put the sounds together and you have Guh-gey-yoo-i, "I love you." Tell someone you love how much they mean to you in one of the most unique ways possible. With every sip they'll be reminded of you and how much you care. The design also features prominently a stylized heart, done in a tribal pattern reminiscent of the swirls and lines seen in Cherokee pottery.

This bistro mug has variable flecks of white and black scattered on a rich red background, making each mug different. It is finished with a thin black line around the rim. The interior is white and the mug features a large comfortable handle. It is generously portioned. It holds 16 ounces. That's two cups! Its just over 4 inches tall and nearly 4 inches wide (3.75 inches) at the rim.

Each mug comes with a printed note describing a brief history of Sequoyah and the Cherokee syllabary.
