Description

Acorn Ornament and Treasure Box Basket

I started making baskets in 1976 when I was very young, this ornament has become a staple in my work. This ornament is made with pine needles, natural and dyed, imitation sinew in a honey color, and small glass beads. Top and bottom baskets are made from pine needles made to fit each other. Each one is made by me and is stitched with love, and is stitched densely. There are seed beads on the Irish linen hanging loop that help you secure the ornament to a Christmas tree, and secure the top on to the base. Each one open up to hold that small treasure you place in it, candy, jewelry, love notes, what ever you want.
- Acorns have long been thought to be good luck symbols in Germany where oak trees are considered sacred. Acorns are also believed to represent the rebirth of life as witnessed by the coming of the Christ child. Early German Christmas trees were laden with cones, cookies and nuts, most notably the acorn, to commemorate this gift of life and luck. This tradition is celebrated today.
Size varies and shape a little, approximately 3 1/4 inch tall, 2 ¼ inch across on base 3 " on lid. Quantity is one ornament.

What some of my customers are saying.
The acorn is nicer than I expected. Quite beautiful.

Your basket is so lovely. Something to treasure for generations!

Hello! Just wanted to let you know, your beautiful items were really appreciated as gifts to my family for Christmas. Thank you much!
