How does the Trivia Escape work? All you need to do is print and play… it’s THAT easy! This trivia escape room has kids working through FIVE challenges. Each challenge has 5 trivia questions and a puzzle decoder. Kids will answer questions for each challenge, then use the decoder to determine the lock codes. The puzzles progressively get more difficult. Some of the answers are NOT common knowledge, but don’t stress! The answer bank includes just TWO-THREE ‘possible’ answers per question, so if they get it wrong, they can try again with a new code and a new answer. Example: What invention was patented on Valentine’s Day? Now, this may not be common knowledge but the “answer bank” ONLY has the following answers to choose from: telephone, car. Should they get the code wrong, they can guess again. Therefore, the codes themselves are puzzles. They’ll need to use deductive reasoning to determine which answer they need to change.

You can set the activity up as a scavenger hunt and hide the “challenges” and “decoders” around the house or lay everything out on the kitchen table for family game night. The choice is yours! Kids will seek out challenges and decode the puzzle answers. The harder the puzzle clues are to find, the more fun the kids have! Kids can decode the puzzles alone or with a large group.

How long does this activity take to complete?
It really depends on a lot of things. Estimated completion time is based on the kids’ puzzle skills, trivia knowledge, how hard the puzzles are to find in the house, and age. Best age is 8+. Younger kids may need help with decoding the puzzles. 

How many kids can play at once?
As many as you want! Kids can complete the activity individually or with larger groups. 

How do I set up the Trivia Escape?
To set up the Trivia Escape, you will need to hide the challenges and decoders around the house. The harder the clues are to find, the more fun the kids have! Of course, if you would rather spread everything out on the kitchen table, that works too!

What if the kids get stuck on one of the puzzles?
First off, let them think for a bit! This is where critical thinking skills come in. There are 5 different types of puzzles. If they get stuck, hint cards have been included to guide them and provide examples.

Where do kids start?
You may begin in any location of your house. It does not matter the order in which they complete the challenges.

How does the Game Host know if the answers are correct?
There is an answer key provided in the PDF.

Do I need locks, envelopes, or special equipment?
NOT AT ALL! This was created to make your life easier! Perfect for last-minute party planners! There are no fancy envelopes to stuff or odd shapes to cut out. All you will need to do is to print and play!
