This is a sewing pattern for a felt rooster, a male chicken. When finished, this proud bird measures approximately 14 cm (5 1/2") high from the top of its comb to its feet, and 13 cm (5") long from its beak to the tip of its sickle feathers. This rooster is designed so that it can stand on its own thin legs. Also, its head can be tilted slightly in different angles.

Real roosters come in a variety of color combinations. For example, I modeled the colorful one pictured above after the Welsummer breed. But of course, one of the best things about making your own is that you get to pick its colors. So please feel free to choose whatever color combination you like to match your taste and/or décor, to create a one-of-a-kind rooster!

This project does not require a sewing machine; it only involves hand sewing. I recommend this pattern for crafters with some hand sewing experience.
