A nicely faded length of old Japanese cotton sakiori rag weave.

Sakiori is a traditional hand weaving technique whereby the Japanese weaver recycled old shredded strips of cloth for the weft while hand looming thick threads for the warp.

Sakiori is the Japanese term for textiles which have been made by the rag-weave method.

This textile was probably at one time part of a Japanese carpet or kotatsu table cover.

Each about 13 X 49 inches, 34 X 125 cm

This sakiori is dated from the early 1900s
