Description

The atlas!
This bone (cervical vertebra 1), named in part after the mythological character Atlas, who carried the world on his shoulders, carries our heads and allows them to move as elegantly, controlled, and precisely as they do.

3D printed in sterling silver, this lovely pendant shines.
The specific vertebrae (human) sits in real life high in the neck, just below the base of the skull. Great care was taken to model and create it with anatomical accuracy (although it is just a fraction of real life size!), and to show off all the interesting and unique bony structures on this piece of the spine.

Comes with 18" sterling silver chain, and is packaged in a small gift box.

Size of atlas pendant:
1 inch from side to side (transverse process to transverse process)

About the process: I 'hand model' all my jewelry with 3D software, but they couldn't come to life without 3D printing. A high resolution 3D wax model of the item is created, and then, using the lost-wax method, a piece is created in sterling silver from the wax mold. The result is an item polished and very high resolution.
