Vintage Royal Copenhagen hand painted Robin and chick figurines. This sweet pair of Robins was made by Denmark's much loved porcelain factory, Royal Copenhagen. Royal Copenhagen is recognized for producing exquisite porcelain highly prized by collectors, and these birds are a great example of their fine craftsmanship. The larger Robin, known as the "Fat Robin", appears plump with feathers fluffed out and looking to the right with its beak pointed skyward. The chick is depicted in the same pose as the larger bird and sits on a small light blue plinth. The birds are painted in Royal Copenhagen's famous muted palette featuring shades of gray-blue, white, yellow and rose - very cute!

The Robins are factory first quality in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks or repairs present on either piece. The plump Robin fits nicely in the palm of the hand, and measures 2.25" across, 2.5" deep and just over 2.25" tall at its highest point. The glazed foot of the piece is clearly marked with Royal Copenhagen's hand painted cobalt blue 'three waves' mark along with the decorator's initials, "UT" and the figurine's mold number, "127", painted in green. The figurine also has a green "DENMARK" stamp with a mark under the "R", dating this piece somewhere between 1990 - 1994. Per the estate, the piece dates to 1991. The diminutive Robin is 1.25" across, 1.25" deep and 1.75" tall. It also has the cobalt 'three waves' and "UT" initials along with green painted mold number, "2238", and "DENMARK" with a mark beneath the "E", dating this piece to 1985 - 1989. The base is incised with a number "8" as well.

This appealing pair displays beautifully and would be a great addition to an existing collection of porcelain birds, or work equally well as stand alone decorative accents. An adorable vintage find for your windowsill or shelf!
