Powder Glass Trade Beads- These great beads are made by the Krobo Tribe of Ghana, Africa. They are made by crushing glass from bottles or other discarded glass, into a fine powder and heating it so that the particles fuse together. The glass is then poured into clay molds, with a cassava leaf stem used to make the hole. They are baked in an oven and the glass fuses and the casssava stem burns up.

Trade beads date back as some of the oldest beads in modern history. Most trade beads have travelled at least three continents, and have been possessed by multiple owners, especially old trade beads. There's nothing more satisfying than wearing a piece of history.
