Decadent indulgence was de riguer in the 1920's among the aristocratic elite!!
Everything was a social statement, from the car one drove, to the wine one drank, to how many "cottages" one owned, and of course, what was in ones closet, preferrably Poiret, Chanel, or Vionnet! Ostentatious though it was, we can't seem to get enough of the glam that has permeated our Sunday evenings with the addictive Downton Abbey, in it's tragic third season finale.
I have created this homage to that fabulous era of fashion history, in a midnight blue velvet "headache band" as it was called in the day, as it was worn rather tightly, to keep it in place as one danced the Charleston. Or perhaps it was the morning after a bit too much Dom Perignon.
Encrusted with aurora beaurealis stones and vintage Swarovski crystal beads, the centerpiece is a tear dropped shape Swarovski crystal sapphire blue bead, resting on the forehead. A burst of plumage rises from a filagree cone, with a gorgeous peacock feather, peacock swords, and Chinese hackle feathers. The white soutache trim is all hand stitched in place. A discreet millinery elastic holds the headpiece in place, worn under the hair.
Perfect for that Downton Abbey party, or a 1920's themed party!! Make your presence known, and be fabulous!! Be prepared to turn heads!!
