Dancing Bear Wood Carving Sculpture Ooak Wedding, Anniversary Gift, Fathers Day Gift for Dad by Gary Burns the Treewiz, Handmade in Oregon. I call this carving "Bearly Dancin' ". Boo and Betty Bear are kickin' up their heals. These two just love to dance. They love being with each other and really like doing almost anything, but dancing is the best. They have so much fun together. They are such a great example for all the other woodland couples. They are always there for the last dance and are caught smooching all of the time, even after so many cycles together. This one is the whole deal. There is a great Oak Tree on the left, a little fir tree on the right, and two birds havin' a blast with Boo and Betty. This piece really has a lot of detail. I haven't done one like this for some time. I was ready for it.

This piece measures 10 3/8" tall x 17" wide x 1 1/4" thick

I carved it out of a Big Leaf Maple. It has Burl and some really fun figuring in the grain. A burl is usually caused by a trees reaction to an agro bacteria. It starts sending out a huge number of buds showing birds eye grain through out the burl. It is very unusual and is very interesting to look at. This piece has the bark still attached along the bottom. I love the ruff natural texture against the smooth. It is really dynamic!

The technique I use is called Pierced Relief. It is carved out of one piece of wood and nothing is added. I have been carving since 1971 and a tree was the first carving I did. I have always been stimulated to carve a resemblance of a tree out of a tree. My technique has evolved over all of these years to what you see here. I keep seeing ways to make things more life like. And I love a piece to look like it is in the middle of a story that each observer can make up. Sometimes a different story each time we look at it and sometimes the same one. I love giving a piece the feeling of action. Sometimes tranquil and sometimes playful. I love it all.

Frequently asked questions about TreeWizWoodCarvings

All of my carvings have a lacquer finish. Dusting with a feather duster or blowing off with a compressor is all that is necessary on the carved trees, fish and carved faces. I use Orange oil on the smooth surfaces. This will perk them up. I would do it as often as you polish your furniture. Once a month would keep them looking great but is not necessary.
I will contact you as soon as I get your order. I will package it that day or the next. I take it to the Post Office the next morning. If I get an order on Friday afternoon, Saturday or Sunday it will be in Monday mornings mail.
I use Priority United States postal service mail.
I do ship outside of the US. I need to know the carving that you are interested in and your complete shipping address. I will figure what it costs to ship to your address and make the changes to the listing so that you can make the purchase.
