Jumbo Squid Octopus Mug in Misty Green and Plum

This handsome, jumbo squid-handled mug has a celadon green, food safe interior and gorgeous, misty green over plum purple on the body with a teal green handle. All my mugs use food-safe, high-fire stoneware glazes. This big guy holds 16 fluid oz., or 2 cups. Stands 5.5" tall and is 4" wide across the bowl, and 6" with handle. My sculpted handles are super comfy in the hand. Made to last more than a few lifetimes.

Fun squid/octopus facts: Squids (and octopuses) have 3 hearts and blue blood. Squids have beaks, and are carnivores. They can swim faster than any other invertebrate. Both animals have eight arms, plus squids have two feeding tentacles as well. Octopuses have "brains" in their tentacles, as well as their heads (9 total!) and can use tools. Both creatures can change the color and texture of their skin with chromatophores, and squirt a cloud of ink to escape predators. There are over 500 species of squid, and 300 of octopus. We don't know for sure, but they may be smarter than we are! They have been around far longer than we have- 500 Million years, as compared to our measly 300,000.

I advise hand washing all art pottery- and avoid microwaving as it can cause tiny cracks in glaze over time. To clean stains inside, use baking soda or Bon Ami and a non-metal scrubber.
