Vintage Corgi model souvenir from the 1977 Silver Jubilee of The Queen.

It is a replica model of The Queen's 1902 State Landau. It is on a base and it features four white horses pulling the open top Royal carriage. Inside Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh are smiling and waving to the crowds. In the back of the coach are two footmen in uniform, two more are riding the horses, and walking alongside is one of Her Majesty's corgi dogs. It comes in the original Corgi box and I believe it's model number 41.

I own two books on royal commemoratives and this item features in both. Apparently it was made by Mettoy Co. Ltd who made a number of Corgi toys, using die-cast metal and plastic, painted and transfer-decorated. The carriage featured in this piece wasn't actually used by Her Majesty for her Silver Jubilee as it was originally expected to have been. The writing on the box is in more than one language as Britain had only joined the Common Market (European Union) in 1973 and this is a reflection of that change. In the later of the two books it values this item at £20-30, as the box is not in perfect condition I have priced it cheaper.

For ages 3 and over. Including the base it measures approximately 36.5cm in length (over 14 and 1/4 inches) and about 8.5cm high (3 and 1/4 inches) (although the book says that it is 28cm or 11 and 1/2 inches in length, it was tricky to measure and we've wrapped it for calculating the postage but I imagine that possibly the measurement they give could be the item itself rather than the base).

Regarding condition: The model is in very good condition except for a little paint missing from the footmen's hats and one of their noses. The box is in less good condition and is quite battered and tatty, it's torn in places and has a couple of pieces of sellotape on it.

This is a fabulous collector's item, the fine details are exquisite.
