🖐 ABOUT US: As owners of The Ark Workshop, we’ve been designing and building wildlife housing & feeders for over 30 years. We've been fortunate to have had some of our products sold in popular retail chains in the United States. When creating housing & feeders, our primary focus is to create designs that will be used by the animals they're intended for. Much research and time goes into that. We've found that there are certain features a house & feeder needs to have for some wildlife to accept it, use it, and then return to it again! Through our personal experiences, thousands of customer correspondences, and years of research … we’ve discovered some valuable insights that have helped us create these wildlife-specific products. Whenever possible, we always try to include a picture of the product in use so that customers can take comfort and know that it has a proven track record. There are many shelters & feeders being offered on the market today. We feel it's great for customers to have options. We encourage you to check out the information on all our items both here and at our website www.arkworkshop.com.
💖💖 My wife and I (Jane & Mark) work together to make all our products. My background is in Veterinary Medicine & Animal Sciences & Woodworking. My wife studied Agricultural Econimics and grew up on a 12,000 acre farm. It is a successful operation that currently supports 4 families. She has a love for all animals with a particular affection for cats. Together, we combine our years of experiences to create housing & feeders for all wildlife .... with a special focus on cats. Since pets, cats, and wildlife cannot tell us what they're needing in a house or feeder ..... nor can they tell us how those items are performing while they're using them ..... we need to be very serious and make sure we're offering items that are waterproof, warm, and safe for them to use. We also want to provide you with as much information as possible so that you can make an informed buying decision.
We chose the business name "The Ark Workshop" after Noah and The Ark. We operate our business with Christian principles and integrity. We appreciate you considering our items and for visiting our shop. We hope we can be of service to you today! Mark & Jane. 💖💖 👨👩

ROUGHENED INTERIOR: To help increase the chances of bat occupancy, we make sure that the interior of our bat houses are coarse and rough versus ones that are smooth and slick. Bats prefer a rugged interior because it more mimics their current conditions and helps them in clinging to the inner walls. We even groove the interior walls to help create a naturalistic setting that helps encourage a bat's acceptance of the house (as shown in the picture listed).

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
Are you thinking about putting up a BAT HOUSE? Bats certainly eat up a lot of insects ...... especially mosquitoes. However, before investing a lot of money on a bat house mansion, perhaps "test out the waters" with this starter Bat House. Once you get bats, you can put up a larger version or more of these in different areas.
As mentioned earlier, bats do eat alot of insects and many put up a bat house in order to help control their area insect population. Bats can eat their own body weight in insects (in one evening) and that's alot of bugs ..... especially mosquitoes. Bats are nocturnal which means that they are active at night and sleep during the day. They basically work the night shift and use their bat house as a place to relax, feel safe, and sleep. Bats are great hiders. However, most of their hiding spots will only have enough room for 1 or 2 bats. Bats like to travel in colonies and sleep in groups .... sharing one another's body heat. Therefore bat houses provide a great way for more to congregate together. According to bat experts, the most common reason a bat house does not get occupied is because it is too cold and drafty. Therefore, bat warmth is everything! Bats like a house that is warm. That's why many bats end up finding their way into attics. They're attracted to the heat. Ark Workshop Bat Houses have unique features that help maintain the proper interior temperature that bats require. The roof is protected with a shingled roof that absorbs heat and maintains interior temperature that bats like. Also, the inner chamber is designed in such a way for bats to move around inside. They can move from the front chamber to the back chamber. This is important so that bats can control their own body temperature and move to either warmer areas or cooler areas of the house. Each house is handcrafted and has been built to the specifications to accommodate bats. It easily attaches to any tree, house, building, or post. The interior is grooved so that bats can cling.
