Jizo is one of the most loved of all Japanese deities. His statues are a common sight. Traditionally, he is seen as the guardian of children. Jizo may be translated as "Earth Treasury", "Earth Store", "Earth Matrix", or "Earth Womb." Usually depicted as a monk with a nimbus around his shaved head, he carries a staff to force open the gates of hell and a wish-fulfilling jewel to light up the darkness. Patron of children.

Original Zen painting is a unique form of art. Sumi ink starts as a solid stick of charcoal and is traditionally ground on a special stone with water to produce the black ink. Zen art is bold, energetic and direct, depicting an image with a few strokes of the brush to capture and express the essence or spirit of the moment.
