Vintage Lauffer Enamel and Cast Iron Dutch Oven Cookware, Made in England. This is a wonderful vintage piece, cast iron with a light gray enamel interior. In 1925, Le Creuset in France simplified the use of cast iron by covering it with enamel, which eased problems with sticking and cleaning. This piece has an estimated age of 1950 to 1960.

Similar items such as the porcelainized cast iron made in Denmark by Copco and in England by H. E. Lauffer ended the problem of rust. Lauffer liked clean, modern lines and his cookware designs was greatly influenced by Scandinavian cookware. This dutch oven has double handles, is 11" across including the handles, 8 3/4" across without the handles and 4" deep, holds about 2 1/2 quarts. It is marked on the bottom with Lauffer, Made in England, and is in excellent condition, enamel is also in excellent condition, has some very slight stains around the rim, barely noticeable, outside of the cast iron shows some very slight normal signs of use.

This is a hard to find piece, a favorite to cook with at home or while camping! Please see our other listings for additional pieces of Enamel on Cast Iron, https://www.etsy.com/shop/havetohaveit/search?search_query=cast+iron&order=date_desc&view_type=gallery&ref=shop_search
