Description

---Instant Download---
I'm trialling a system where you will be given access to the pattern file instantly on purchase. I have no idea how it works, but if you have any problems downloading the file please e-mail me at sfarfort [!at] yahoo.co.uk and I'll reply with the pattern within 2 days as per usual (or if you prefer send a convo, but that could take a little longer to find). Also, if you want any of the files in a different format, or have any other problems, again get in touch and I'll help you out as much as I can :)

This intermediate pattern is designed for knitters with some experience in knitting in the round with DPNs as a simple introduction to knitting with scales.
The pattern includes comprehensive instructions with step by step picture tutorial for scale knitting in PDF format plus six PNG files of the blank scale pattern design charts for you to make pouches in whatever pattern and size you like! There are no physical items to send, so there is no postage!

If you require the pattern or charts in another file format feel free to convo before buying.

This listing is for the digital pattern only, and I can no longer offer finished items made to request sorry!

---How Is The Pattern Delivered?---
- On purchase you should be provided with a link to download the pattern immediately; if there are any problems, feel free to get in touch and I'll arrange for it to be delivered to your e-mail address
- The ZIP file includes one PDF file of the pattern itself, and four PNG image files of design charts. If any parts are missing or corrupted on their way to you please reply asking to resend the file that you are having problems with.
- You are buying a digital pattern. There is not currently the ability to buy the printed pattern and have it posted to you, however if the pattern is popular and some people request this I will create that as a separate item to purchase.

---What Do I Need?---
- Mostly you just need standard knitting supplies, see the front page image provded for full equipment list
- You will also need 60, 150 or 250 small aluminium scales to complete the small, medium or large pouch respectively
- See the bottom of --- www.craftymutt.blogspot.co.uk/p/learn-to-knit-with-scales.html --- for CraftyMutt's suggested scale suppliers.

---How Difficult Is It?---
- If you're reading this section you're probably worried that you won't be able to understand how to knit with the scales, and the pattern will be useless to you. Well fear not!
- Go back to --- www.craftymutt.blogspot.co.uk/p/learn-to-knit-with-scales.html --- and this time scroll about halfway down to the free intro tutorial to knit stitch with scales, which includes a tutorial video.
- That's all the special knowledge you need! So if you want to make sure you can handle it before you buy the pattern, have a go at what's described in the video, and if you can do that you can knit gauntlets.
- You'll also need to work in the round, and the pattern is written to use DPNs. If you prefer other methods to work in the round and understand the DPN method, it should be possible to work using alternative methods such as the magic loop technique. If you're unsure, feel free to e-mail if you can get any tips on knitting it in your favourite style!

---What Do I Not Get?---
- You do not get any ready made scale charts to use, the charts for examples shown on this page are not included; you get the knitting pattern to make gloves and blank charts to design your own patterns with.
- Also the legal stuff:
- You do not get permission to sell this pattern as it is or in an adapted form, or give it away for free.
- You do not get permission to make and sell items made by this pattern, although the technique of knitting with scales as shown in the free online tutorial is allowed - you can design your own items that include scales using the technique described in the free tutorial whether you buy the pattern or not. Only the pattern itself is protected.

---What Can I Make?---
Pouches, of all colours and sizes!

If you have any problems or questions about the pattern or your purchase do not hesitate to contact me here, e-mail sfarfort [!at] yahoo.co.uk or send a message to CraftyMutt on Facebook

File delivery
Your files will be available to download once payment is confirmed. Here's how.

Payments

Secure options
  • Accepts Etsy Gift Cards and Etsy Credits
Etsy keeps your payment information secure. Etsy shops never receive your credit card information.
Once payment is received I will begin the process of packaging and posting!
For custom orders - the item will be started as soon as I can after payment, and upon completion photos will be sent to you to confirm if you're happy with what has been made. If the item isn't right and you require it to be remade the time required to make the order will be reset (although you'll still be at the front of the queue so to speak), and if an item needs to be completely remade rather than just replaced, the original item will go on sale in the shop for somebody else to buy while I start on the adjusted request.
I only require deposits on custom items organised by convo if it requires purchasing a large amount of material in that are very specific to your order, to cover those costs.
I can only take Paypal.

Returns & exchanges

Once an item has been received, if you find it to be an incorrect item or damaged (send photograph please) I will refund the amount you paid for the purchase once the item has been returned to me, the buyer will need to cover any return delivery costs.
Be aware that as soft items they may get a little squashed out of shape on their way, but with a little care they can be helped back to their proper shape; they're not damaged, just a little tired from the travel!

I get proof of postage with every item sent but if your item does not arrive, I am very sorry, but I cannot refund :( fortunately this is rare, and I really hope none of my creatures or creations get lost out there all on their own!

If these two events combine, and an item gets lost in delivery from you back to me, I will still be willing to refund the product if you obtained proof of postage - always ask at the post office!

Additional policies

Scale Mail Guarantee - I am very confident in the strength of the yarn and the quality of my knitted scale items, so I am offering a LIFETIME GUARANTEE.
If you find that your gloves (or other scaly item) become so worn through years of use that any scales start to fall off, or are hanging very loose and likely to fall off soon, please contact me with an image of the problem.
If you send the item to me at your cost (address provided when you show me the problem; warning, address changes frequently, do not use an address unless you have been given it specifically for the task) I will re-knit it onto new yarn and send it back to you for ABSOLUTELY FREE.
The yarn will be the best approximation of the original yarn, depending on availability years down the line.

I am willing to take requests for items, or reserve items for a few days if requested.
If you see something you like but would want in a different colour or other small change I will be able to make a special item for you, and convo you when the listing is ready with an image to confirm you still want it, and with approval with list the item for you to purchase. The item will be priced identical to the item it is based on, unless the change is substantial. Completely custom requests are also welcome by convo!

If a request/reservation is made but not purchased or otherwise responded to within a pre-agreed time (default three days from me notifying you, including weekends) then I may choose to remove the reservation and allow anyone to purchase the item.

Some items may be made several times, and I may use photographs of one of them for all their listings. Please allow for the fact that these are handmade, and that there may be slight shape and colour differences in your item to the photo.
I generally like to show photographs of each one specifically though because I like you to see exactly who you are offering your home to :)
